Liposuction in Vancouver

Liposuction offers safe and effective removal and sculpting of excess fat to create a slimmer, shapelier figure

Liposuction in VancouverLiposuction is an effective way to remove and sculpt excess fat to create a slimmer, shapelier silhouette. At our state-of-the-art Vancouver facility, board-certified plastic surgeons perform liposuction to help patients achieve better body proportions and improve their confidence. Common treatment areas include hips, abdomen, buttocks, chin, arms and neck.

Liposuction surgery is not a substitute for weight loss, but it’s a safe and dependable way to remove localized fat that doesn’t respond to diet and exercise.

What happens during liposuction?

Liposuction procedureYour plastic surgeon will make tiny incisions near the area where the excess fat will be removed. Then, your surgeon will insert a thin vacuum tube (cannula) through the incision, into the deep fat layer. The tube is gently moved back and forth, breaking up the fat and suctioning it out of the body.

Liposuction usually takes between one and two hours to perform. The time required, however, may vary depending on the target area and the amount of excess fat being removed.

What are the benefits of liposuction?

  • Health Canada and FDA approved
  • Effective for targeting stubborn fat deposits
  • Long-term, stable results with a healthy lifestyle
  • Noticeable, natural results
  • Fat cells are eliminated, not just reduced in size
  • Safe and dependable way to boost confidence

Liposuction recovery

Liposuction Compression GarmentThe recovery period varies depending on the specific details of your procedure, but most patients experience manageable discomfort, bruising and swelling for several days post-treatment. You can return home the same day and should be able to resume work and light activities within a week. Skin in the treated areas may initially appear loose, as the body adjusts to its new shape. You will also need to wear a compression garment underneath your regular clothes and avoid strenuous exercise for about three weeks, in order to help your skin to conform to your new body contours.

Liposuction results

You will see noticeable improvements in your body shape within 10 days. Final results will appear within three to six months. It’s important to remember that the benefits of liposuction are not purely aesthetic; liposuction can be the first step toward a healthier, more active lifestyle. A slimmer, shapelier body can boost your self-esteem and give you the confidence you need to try new activities.

Am I a candidate for liposuction?

The best liposuction candidates are healthy adults within 25 pounds of their ideal weight who struggle with fat deposits that don’t respond to diet and exercise. Candidates with good skin tone and elasticity typically have smoother, more satisfying results. Liposuction is designed to target deep, persistent fat deposits, so it does not remove stretch marks, skin dimpling or other surface irregularities. For patients with larger amounts of fat an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck may be appropriate. Obese patients requiring more drastic weight loss may consider a bariatric procedure such as lap-band.
