Dermabrasion helps to refinish the skin’s irregular surface through a procedure that involves controlled surgical scraping using an electrical device. The treatments can be performed using either a local or general anaesthetic. Dermabrasion treatments soften the sharp edges of surface skin irregularities, giving the skin a smoother appearance.
You will be able to go home on the same day that you receive the treatment with a protective ointment and dressing applied to the treated area. Within six to seven days the treated area is usually healed, and you will be able to return to work within two weeks of receiving treatment.
Results
Once healed, the skin will have a fresh, youthful appearance and the look of scars and other dermal irregularities will be greatly reduced. However, the effects of regular aging will continue to develop over time and multiple treatments may be necessary to maintain results.
